About North Skagit
North Skagit is the country between Bellingham and Burlington — the southern half of Chuckanut Drive, the Bow-Edison farm strip, Samish Bay and Samish Island, Lake Samish in the hills, and Alger along I-5. It's oyster beds, farm-to-table restaurants, lake cabins, and wooded acreage, served by Burlington-Edison schools and split between two commutes.
Housing is farmhouses and custom homes on ag land in Bow and Edison, cabins and view homes around Lake Samish (15 minutes from Bellingham), waterfront and bluff homes on Samish Island, and 1–20 acre wooded parcels in Alger and Blanchard. Lake access rights and ag zoning are the recurring diligence items.
