About Burlington
Burlington grew up at the junction of the railroad, then I-5 and Highway 20 — and location is still its whole pitch: 35 minutes to Bellingham, 25 to Anacortes, 45 to Everett. About 10,000 people live in a town that pairs a compact old downtown with big-box retail along the freeway and a fast-growing hill of new homes.
Housing is 1950s–70s ranchers near downtown and Gardner Road, and Burlington Hill — the most active new-construction area in Skagit County — with valley and mountain views from the upper streets. Prices sit slightly under Mount Vernon with newer stock.
