About Sudden Valley
Sudden Valley was carved out of the forest on Lake Whatcom's south shore in the late 1960s as a recreational community — golf course, marina, cabins — and grew into a full-time gated town of about 7,000 governed by the Sudden Valley Community Association. Everything you love about it (gates, trails, pools, beaches) is paid for by dues, and everything you need to know is in the SVCA documents.
Housing ranges from 1970s cabins and A-frames in the upper gates to 1990s–2010s homes along the golf course to true lakefront with docks. It trades at a discount to Bellingham proper, 15 minutes away, which keeps demand steady from buyers priced out of the city.
