Downtown Lynden windmill and main street

Lynden

Tidy streets, Dutch heritage on Front Street, and the most new construction in the county. $450k–$700k. Quiet Sundays are real here. A fit if you want a newer home and don't need nightlife.

Ferndale

Closest to Bellingham (12 minutes), fastest-growing, and the most price-accessible detached homes — $475k–$650k. Refinery and port jobs anchor it. Best for commuters and first-time buyers.

Blaine & Birch Bay

The border town and the beach community next door. Semiahmoo brings luxury; Birch Bay brings condos and cottages from the high $300s. A fit for second-home buyers and anyone who wants to see water every day.

Common questions

Lynden and Ferndale both rate well; Lynden has strong private options too. Irena will share current data rather than reputations.

For second homes and rentals it's been steady. Check HOA and short-term rental rules before buying.
