About Lummi Island
Lummi Island lies across Hale Passage from the Lummi Reservation's Gooseberry Point, reached by the county's small Whatcom Chief ferry in about six minutes. Roughly a thousand people live on nine square miles of shoreline, farms, and forest, with a village by the ferry landing — store, library, K–5 school, and a handful of studios.
Housing is cabins, farmhouses, and custom homes, many on wells or community water and all on septic. Waterfront ranges from Legoe Bay's reefnet-fishing shore to west-side bluffs with San Juan sunsets. The ferry schedule shapes everything: commuting, contractors, and resale.
